You may be interested in becoming involved with .

Faith and Light is an international movement for persons with intellectual disabilities, their family members and friends. It is Christ centered. The communities meet monthly to share faith, friendship, food, and fun.

In Minnesota, there are several Faith and Light communities in the Twin Cities. Friends of Faith and Light, in the St. Cloud, is a community in formation which is hoping to become officially recognized in the next year. The Friend's community is looking for more members, especially those who are youth and those who bring family connections.

The Church of St. Paul has invited the Friend's community to hold their monthly meetings at their parish until Spring. Meetings are held on a Saturday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, followed by the opportunity to worship together at the 4:30 parish Mass. Meetings at St. Paul's are on the following dates:

January 26, February 23, March 15, April 19th.

Feel free to drop in at any community meeting.

About the Logo:

Meb was a painter, he had an intellectual disability. He composed his work of art on the occasion of the first pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1971 after some one read him the Charter of the first Faith and Light pilgrimage.
What he did was very simple. A boat in which he put a number of figures. He painted twelve of them. Jesus must be sleeping somewhere in the bottom of the boat. Then there was the sun and the clouds. Meb was certainly very inspired. He could not count.
His idea : we are in a boat and we are traveling together. Sometimes the sea is rough, sometimes it’s dead calm, sometimes you need to row, and sometimes the wind blows in the sails .. Meb had understood all that.
Here is the caption that goes with the drawing :
“The clouds parted and Your light, oh Lord, shone down upon us.”.

What Faith and Light is all about.......

Faith and Light is a community movement, originated in the Roman Catholic Church during an international pilgrimage to Lourdes at Easter 1971. It is founded on the conviction that persons with an intellectual disability have been chosen by God to confound the powerful and the intellectual. Its spirit is the spirit of the Gospel, the spirit of compassion and acceptance of human suffering.

Each community wants to be inserted in the parish or the parishes of its members. Faith and Light thus desires to be a sign that the most vulnerable persons, and often the most rejected, are at the heart of the Church. In France, Monsignor Thomazeau, bishop of Beauvais, is its accompanying bishop. The movement is attached to the Pontifical Council for the Laity in the Vatican.
