Announcing the Ninth Annual

OPENING DOORS AWARDS

To broaden awareness and provide examples of who we are called to be as the Body of Christ, the Accessibility Award Task Force of the Diocese of St. Cloud is again offering public recognition and a monetary award of $500 to each of two recipients from the Diocese of St. Cloud who have empowered persons with disabilities and assisted in their active participation in parish life.

NOMINATION DEADLINE IS July 31, 2003.

NOMINATIONS

Nominees active in the Diocese of St. Cloud can be:

A parishioner who has led efforts to promote adaptations in parish attitudes, programs or physical conditions in parish facilities;
A parish program that has made accommodations for persons with hearing impairments, mental illness, developmental disabilities or other conditions; or
A parish that has made an accommodation within parish life in order to include or empower people with disabilities.

Past nominees who did not receive the award may be nominated again.

NOMINATION CRITERIA

The nominee must embody these characteristics:

a. Shows compassion and effectiveness in helping persons with disabilities recognize their own dignity.
b. Empowers persons with disabilities to act on their own so they can participate as fully as they desire in parish activities.

c.Has the ability to inspire others within the larger community in promoting social change.
