This is NOT a wish list asking for donations. Rather, this is a list of items found useful by technology people that work with elementary schools. So, if you are a technology person, these are items you may want to add to your wish list.

This is a continually evolving list. View this list often, here at http://www.StCloudDiocese.org/CEM/computer/. Comments can be sent to David.

  • Basic Technology Needs
    • velcro wire ties
    • various Philips screwdrivers (standard size to extremely small)
    • very small (but not too small) flathead screwdriver
    • spare computer clock batteries (usually 3.6 volt, sometimes 4.5 volt)
    • 6-pin to 6-pin FireWire cable (great for target disk mode)

    • membership to the CEM "educational technology" mailing list (call 320-252-1021 to enlist)
    • a representative at the occasional diocesan-wide educational technology group meetings
    • Encourage teachers, principals, and volunteers to attend computer classes.
  • Network Wish List
    • accurate documentation of the school's network
    • a network closet (well ventilated and possibly temperature controlled) for major network equipment
    • within the network closet, 4-post rack
    • Category 5 ethernet cables connecting all computers within building. (New cables should be Category 5e or better. Installation must be performed by licensed/certified low-voltage electricians.)
    • spare Category 5e Ethernet cables
    • 100 Mbps network switches with a couple 1000 Mbps (gigabit) ports
    • network laser printer that supports TCP/IP and Bonjour (formerly Rendezvous)
