Kenyan and Minnesotan Franciscan Sisters Several years ago two Fransiscan Sisters from Homa Bay, Kenya journeyed to Minnesota, where they spent two years living and serving with the Fransiscan Sisters of Little Falls. This was part of an exchange of personnel between two Franciscan communites and our broader Diocesan Global Solidarity Partnership. Sr. Winefred Adongo Oguya and Sr. Everline Buyaki Mboga lived among us from 2004 until the fall of 2006.
Following in their footsteps are Sr. Alice Nyangasi Mugenhasa and Sr. Beatrice Mogoka. Both Sisters are educators in Homa Bay. Here they are educating us on the life, Church and culture of Kenya, as well as on faith and life. Our diocese has a lot we can learn from them, and we are greatful for their presence and willingess to share and evangelize to us during their two years in the Diocese. The Sisters are also serving their new local community; they are working in Clare Center at the convent in Little Falls, serving the elder sisters of the community. They live in a community house with a few other Fransiscan Sisters. Through all of their living, working and sharing, they are helping all of us whom they encounter to develop a deeper understanding of our global neighbors in Homa Bay, Kenya and a fuller appreciation of our universal faith. We are SO blessed to have them here!!
