Bienvenido Padre José! St. Cloud Diocese welcomes

We welcome Fr. José Gregorio Bracamonte from our Sister Diocese of Maracay Venezuela to St. Cloud, Minnesota to continue the loving missionary presence of the Maracay Diocese to Minnesota. Fr. José arrived in Minnesota at the end of May 2005 to continue in the missionary footsteps and presence of Fr. Trujillo. He will be with us until 2010!
Fr. José was ordained for the Diocese of Maracay in 1993. He was later sent to Rome from 1997-99 for two additional years of study. During this time, he earned a degree in Dogmatic Theology. Fr. José has served in two different parishes in the Diocese of Maracay, and also as the Rector of the Diocesan major Seminary for another year years.
Fr. José comes from a large family of eight brother and sisters. He was born and raised in the Diocese of Maracay, Venezuela. He especially enjoys visiting with people, listening to music, and gardening fruits and vegetables.
He arrived in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the end of May, 2005. He is happy to be here in central Minnesota. He enjoys the nice, refreshing summer climate here in Minnesota (while he prepares for his first experience of a snowy Minnesota winter). He is especially intrigued and fascinated by the proceedures and prospects of fishing and hunting here in Minnesota. While here in Minnesota, he will especially miss his three dogs back home in Venezuela.
The St. Cloud Diocese has truly been blessed with the multi-cultural ministry and cross-cultural pastoral presence of the Venezuelan missionaries throughout our diocese these past few years. When first arriving, Fr. José studied the English language and lived at Centro Hispano in Waite Park. Currently, he serves as Hispanic Minister for the Diocese of St. Cloud, actively ministering in parishes of the Diocese of with a Hispanic population - offering Spanish Masses, Bible studies, retreats, celebrating Sacraments and more. We of the St. Cloud Diocese have a great opportunity to broaden our awareness and experience of our global Church through his ministry with us.
Many priests, sisters, and lay people from the St. Cloud Diocese have likewise ministered in Maracay over the course of our 39 years of partnership. Fr. José is the second long-term missioner to St. Cloud from Maracay.
