Greenwald • Barley Days opens with outdoor polka Mass at 7:30 p.m. on the St. Andrew Parish grounds. Hamburger stand open from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Activities include music with DJ, volleyball tournament and button drawing every half-hour between 10 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. for $25 cash. (Event continues tomorrow.)

Albany • Seven Dolors Parish Summer Festival begins with polka Mass at 10:30 a.m. Serving starts at 11 a.m. for chicken and ham dinner in air-conditioned parish center and Holy Family School basement. Stands — food and refreshments, fancywork and crafts, country store, bingo, games for kids and cake walk — open at 11 a.m. Event includes hand-stitched quilts sale (beginning at 10 a.m.), live music (1 to 5:30 p.m.), quilt auction (3 p.m.), raffle drawing ($1,000 grand prize) at 6 p.m.
Cold Spring • “An evening with Our Lady and her son, Jesus” begins at 7 p.m. at the
Assumption (Grasshopper) Chapel. Kevin Dockendorf and friends will provide music for this evening of song and prayer to honor Jesus and Mary. Bring a lawn chair. Greenwald • Barley Days continues from yesterday starting with parade at 11 a.m. Christian Women serve chicken and ham dinner in school basement at St. Andrew’s from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Event includes food stands, games for all ages, drawing for youth prizes, cake walk, beanbag tournament starting at 1 p.m., live music, cash bingo, drawing for a hog and button drawing for savings bonds.
Isanti • St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Setonfest starts with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Event includes dinner, games for kids, bingo, country store, silent auction and raffle.
Pierz • St. Joseph Parish Summer Festival starts with Mass at 10 a.m. in air-conditioned church. Gorka chicken and sauerkraut dinner served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in air-conditioned dining area. Event includes food and refreshments, music, bingo, pull tabs, country store, silent auction, games for kids, fancywork, bake sale, veggie sale, book sale and quilt wheel. Raffle drawing at 4:30 p.m.
Rush Lake • St. Lawrence Parish (46404 Co. Hwy. 14, Perham) Festival starts with outdoor polka Mass at 10:30 a.m. Chicken and beef dinner served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event includes refreshments, music, bingo, country store, silent auction and games for kids. Raffle drawing at 3 p.m. (Catholic Aid matching grant fundraiser.)

Jacobs Prairie • St. James Parish (on Co. Rd. 2 between Cold Spring and St. Joseph) hosts BBQ pork chop and corn on the cob feed from 4 to 9 p.m. Mass celebrated at 8 p.m.
Motley • Sacred Heart Parish, Staples, and St. Michael Parish, Motley, host a polka Mass, with music by the Cathy Erickson Band, at 5 p.m. at Bernie’s Barn. Bring lawn chairs. A pork feed will follow Mass. (Free will offering.) Directions from Staples: Proceed six miles east of Staples on Hwy. 10. Turn left on Spruce Rd. and watch for signs. Directions from Motley: Proceed one mile west of Motley on Hwy. 10. Turn right onto Spruce Rd. and watch for signs.
Sauk Centre • Annual Poor Clare Coffee is from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Pat and Paul Borgmann residence, 321 Morningview Lane. (Event benefits the sisters of the Poor Clare Monastery, Sauk Rapids.)

Bertha • St. Joseph Parish Festival starts with Mass at 10 a.m. BBQ pork and turkey dinner served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in church basement. Take out available. Event includes bingo, cake walk, youth games, refreshments and silent auction. Raffle drawing at 2:30 p.m. (Matching funds provided by Catholic Aid Association, Council 320.)
Dent • Sacred Heart Parish Bazaar starts with Masses at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. (Handicap accessible.) Chicken and meatball dinner served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Event includes silent auction, bingo, games, cake walk, country store. Raffle drawing at 3 p.m.
Randall • St. James Parish August Fest begins with Mass at 10 a.m. Chicken, ham and corn on the cob dinner starts at 10:30 a.m. Event includes food and refreshments, music, country store, cake/pie walk, bingo, face painting, games and “table of toys” raffle for kids and live auction (3 p.m.). Raffle drawing (nearly $12,000 in cash and prizes including Arctic Cat 4-wheeler) at 5 p.m. (Located 10 miles north of Little Falls on Hwy. 10 to Randall.)
Wahkon • Sacred Heart Parish Bazaar starts with Mass at 10 a.m. in handicap accessible, air-conditioned church. Beef and ham dinner served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in air-conditioned church hall. Event includes bingo, games and refreshments for all ages, live auction (2:30 p.m.) and cash raffle drawing ($1,200 in cash prizes) at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, August 10
Melrose • The Melrose/Sauk Centre Deanery CCW hosts caravan tour of eight churches in that deanery starting at 8 a.m. at St. Mary Church. The event begins with praying the rosary, followed by rolls and coffee (free will offering) and a tour of St. Mary’s. Buffet lunch served at The Greenwald Pub ($6). The group plans to arrive back in Melrose around 5 p.m. (Car-pool expenses will be shared.) RSVP by Aug. 3 to Jean Hopfer at 320-837-5239 and indicate if you would be able to drive your vehicle.

Cold Spring • St. Boniface Parish Fall Festival starts with polka Mass at 5 p.m. Food and beverage stands and inflatables open at 6 p.m. Smok’N Guns will play from 7 to 11 p.m. Fireworks display begins at 10 p.m. (Event continues tomorrow.)
Long Prairie • St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish Great Get-Together Summer Festival begins with “Jesus’ Fishers of Men” fishing contest from 8 to noon. (Pre-registration required — forms at Long Prairie Fleet Supply or rectory.) Event includes Hispanic lunch in church basement (noon to 1 p.m.); kiddie games and games of chance for adults, raffle and beer garden (all starting at 1 p.m.); dessert judging contest (forms at rectory) and dessert auction; Mass (5:30 p.m.) and pig roast served in church basement (until 8 p.m.).
St. Cloud • St. Cloud Widowed Persons’ Breakfast is at Old Country Buffet (3333 W. Division St.) at 9:30 a.m.
Sartell • St. Francis Xavier Parish Fall Festival starts with outdoor Mass at 5 p.m. Pig roast, food and refreshment stands, bake sale, plant stand, inflatable games, pull tabs and more begin immediately after Mass. Live music begins at 6:30 p.m. (Event continues tomorrow.)

Cold Spring • St. Boniface Parish Fall Festival continues from yesterday with Mass at 8:30 a.m. Parade at 10 a.m. Chicken and dressing dinner with homemade desserts served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Stands — food and refreshments, games for kids and inflatables — open at 11 a.m. Event includes ROCORI Marching Band (11:30), Ray Drontle Band (noon to 2 p.m.), quilt auction (2 p.m.), music by Kodiak (3 to 6 p.m.) and raffle drawing and raffle for 2010 Chevrolet Aveo (6 p.m.).
Cold Spring • Annual Mass commemorating the Feast of the Assumption at Assumption (Grasshopper) Chapel begins with praying the rosary at 7:30 p.m. followed by 8 p.m. Mass, celebrated by Father Al Stangl. Bring a lawn chair. (Turn off Hwy. 23 onto Chapel St., follow signs to Pilgrimage Rd. and chapel nestled in trees.) In case of inclement weather, Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Church on Main St. in Cold Spring.
Perham • St. Henry Parish Summer Festival begins with 10:30 a.m. polka Mass at Pioneer Village Park. Potluck lunch, with main dish provided by parish, served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Freewill offering.) Event includes games for all ages, basket silent auction, country store, pie and ice cream and raffle. (Park is one-half mile north of Perham on Hwy. 8.)
Reno Township/Lowry • St. John Nepomuk Parish Annual Dinner and Bazaar begins with polka Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Chicken dinner including mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, sauerkraut, kolaches and pies, served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event includes live music, beer garden, games for all ages, bingo, kolache and bake sale, country store, silent auction and cookbook sales. (Parish is located 5 miles northeast of Lowry and 1/4 mile west of Lake Reno.)
Sartell • St. Francis Xavier Parish Fall Festival continues with Masses at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., each followed by bake sale. Roast beef dinner with homemade pie served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Stands — food and refreshments, games for kids, bingo, pull tabs, fancywork, silent auction, farmers’ market, plants, used books and media — open at 11 a.m. Event includes polka music (11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), beer stand (opens at noon), live auction (1 p.m.), music (3 to 6 p.m.) and raffle drawing (with over $12,500 in prizes — top prize $2,500) at 6 p.m.
