Return to Confirmation Guidelines

Liturgical Rehearsal: In preparation for the liturgical celebration, the following have been rehearsed with the candidates and ministers and all are confident with their role:

  • Entrance procession
  • Renewal of Baptismal Promises
  • Movement to and position before the bishop for the anointing (exactly where they will stand).
  • Sponsors have been notified that they are to place their right hand on the candidates right shoulder.
  • Response to the anointing is "Amen"
  • Response to the greeting of peace is "and also with you"
  • Presentation of the Gifts procession
  • Exit procession
  • Liturgical Ministers: Ministers have been selected for the following roles:
  • Acolytes/servers (3)
  • Lectors
  • Deacon of the Liturgy (if one is to be utilized)
  • Presenter of the candidates
  • Eucharistic Ministers
  • Musicians
  • Greeters and ushers
  • Others involved in procession (incense bearer, banner bearers, etc.)
  • Group Photograph: If a group photograph is to be taken, the photographer clearly understands the guidelines for a group photograph as outlined on page 12.
  • Nametags: Nametags are prepared for the following:
  • Candidates
  • Catechists
  • Sponsors (optional)
  • Liturgical Planner: The liturgy planner has been completed and a copy sent to the Bishop's administrative assistant two (2) weeks prior to the liturgy.
  • Arrival Time and Location for Candidates: The candidates have been informed of the arrival time and where they are to assemble. (Parents of the candidates have also been informed of this information.)
  • Arrival Time and Location for Sponsors: The sponsors have been informed of the arrival time and the general location of reserved pews for them.
  • Bishop's Memorial Card: Cards have been received and will be distributed after the celebration (along with the parish Confirmation certificate) by a member of the parish Faith Formation team.
  • Reception: Arrangements have been made for the reception following the liturgical celebration.
